Sniper Medium Tank

The Radpanzer Versuchsmuster 68 Fossa is a project for a wheeled tank developed by West Germany in the late 1960s. The design was for a fast and well-armed armored vehicle for scouting and fighting enemy armored vehicles. It would have had powerful and compact American V-shaped engines, as well as a chassis with an 8×8 wheel layout and independent suspension that allowed for tank-style traverse. A 105 mm gun with a silencer was also considered; however, serious drawbacks were found as early as the design stage: dense component configuration which complicated servicing and repairs, insufficient fuel tank volume and ammo rack space, as well as a high center of gravity, reducing stability during traverse and particularly when firing. The project was closed before a prototype was built.
