Support Heavy Tank

In the early 1960s, Sweden began developing a new tank meant to be an alternative to the Strv 103 and to have a high degree of technical innovation. The vehicle had a conventional configuration with a rotating turret, torsion-bar suspension, and an air-cooled diesel engine. However, many drawbacks were discovered during development: The engine cooling system was ineffective, the oil consumption exceeded the norm, and the turret turned out to be cramped. Given that—despite the originality—the Strv 103 proved to be an entirely realistic vehicle, the Ambassador project was terminated.
